New rear tire

Photo at left shows new $375.00 rear tire. In addition, I changed the hydraulic fluid that lubricates the transmission and powers the hydraulic lift. This required 5 gallons of fluid at a cost of around $60.00. Not difficult, just expensive! However, after the change a gasket at the bottom of the rear axle developed a leak and will have to be replaced. The gasket is part of the hydraulic pump assembly and is a bugger to change. A new gasket set is under $12.00 but the repair will rquire 8 hours or more to do. Plus I wil need another $60.00 in hydraulic fluid. Bummer!

I've installed new spark plug wires and a new distributor cap. The engine starts and runs pretty well now, though it dows not idle as it should. The governor may need to be rebuilt to fix this.

The drawbar "leveling gear" was frozen solid and was replaced. Cost was around $75.00. The new leveler gear can be seen at the right side of this hitch; it has a little red dot on it that covers the greease fitting.

The new hitch is designed to accept a regular trailer hitch ball. With it I hope to use the tractor to pull the utility trailer and chipper around the lot where the ATV just cannot do the job.
