View of the hitch from behind the XJ. Bike is fitted with Vetter hard luggage I added an intermediate cross-brace that clamps to the Vetter brace. This gives the hitch more rigidity.
Side arms are 1 inch flat stock, .25 inches thick. Main cross-brace is 1 inch square tubing. Wiring (5 conductor) is from an old Actic Cat snowmobile. 2 eye bolts provide anchor points for safety chains, and a 1/2 inch Heim end is the bike-side anchor for my home-built swivel hitch.
